Things About Zodiac

The concept of the zodiac was originally proposed by the Babylonians before 2000 BC C., as a schedule to be displayed over time.
Experts say that the trail of the origin of our constellation is found among the Sumerians, but it is the priest-astronomers or astrologers if you will, of ancient Egypt who reported their observations of the sky to the Greeks, who in turn were a source of knowledge for astronomers and scientists from the Middle Ages.
In astrology, the zodiac constellations defined by the twelve zodiacal signs used historically as a method of divination and preparation of horoscopes. The sign present at the time of birth is linked to the being who had just been born, "brand" for life.
The twelve signs as we know them today were listed by the Greek astronomer Claudius Ptolemy in the second century, based on the Sumerian astrological system.
Although we use the same names for the twelve astrological signs that twelve of the fourteen astronomical constellations of the zodiac, there is a significant difference. While the signs are geometric sections of equal size, each spanning 30 ° and corresponds to a period of approximately one month, the constellations have irregular shapes, not in any case both correspond

The constellations of the zodiac, unlike the rest of the sky are those along which the Sun, Moon and planets on their journey in the sky throughout the year. The Zodiac "the way of animals," consists of 12 constellations are: Aries, Aquarius, The Crab, The Goat Marina, The Scorpion, The Twins, The Lion, The Fishes, El Toro, La Balance, Sagittarius and Virgin, not to mention the constellation of Ophiuchus "The Serpent", which some consider him the 13th constellation of the Zodiac. The mythological origin of their names and icons that represent them, are part of the beginning of human culture and astronomy.

The Zodiac
has not twelve but thirteen or fourteen constellations (according to different interpretations). That is, the solar disk passes through thirteen constellations different in the course of a year. The thirteenth is Ophiuchus, where the solar disk is late November to mid December. Also, some consider the inclusion of a constellation known as Cetus fourteenth, as it houses part of the solar disk for a few hours in late March (flick the band of the zodiac), but because of these characteristics are presented in Cetus, their inclusion is under discussion.

Today the zodiac constellations are useful and known by ordinary people just for the horoscope. Many people read these forecasts every day in internet, newspapers or magazines.

How and when to locate the zodiac constellations

How to observe the constellations?

To correctly identify
the constellations, it is necessary to see the stars who draw their figures. People living in cities or surrounding areas are very few of them because the light pollution (light generated in excess by the man and escaping into the environment) adversely affects the visibility of the fainter stars. It is therefore recommended, seek a dark place. It is necessary first of all, if we learn in a rigorous and accurate, we begin by, that is the first we have seen and recognized in our lives.
From here, we're moving with a view of the constellations surrounding the first, provided we have a map the night sky or a guide to the naked eye. Once we have identified a constellation in the night sky, the other automatically will we, how difficult is the first, we must look to a person who knows one, just one, that is enough to start on the map. It is very easy, if we see the "Car or Big Dipper" in heaven and on the map else is there to find the next both in heaven and on the map. You can learn new constellations. How did the constellations get their names?

Zodiac name comes from the fact that most of these constellations are named after animals, deriving the word from the Greek zodiac zoon ("animal").
Isaac Newton proposed the theory that the twelve names of the zodiacal constellations paid homage to the myth of Jason and the Argonauts and their journey towards the golden fleece. So Aries fleece refers to himself, Leo the hero Heracles (Roman Hercules), wearing lion skin Cithaeron, Gemini the twins Castor and Pollux, Virgo the priestess of the temple where they guarded the fleece, and so on.
Here is the meaning (Greek) of each zodiac sign:

*Aries: The Ram with whom traveled Frixio and Hele, when they left their homeland to reach Colchis. It was then the Golden Fleece.

*Taurus: There are two versions 1) The Bull of Crete, a mythical beast that lived in that area. 2) The form adopted when Zeus kidnapped Europe.

*Gemini : twins Castor and Pollux. Pollux was immortal, but his brother Castor was not. When Castor died, Pollux gave his immortality to save his brother.

*Cancer: crab that Hera sent to help the Hydra of Lerna, when it fought against Hercules.

*Leo: The Lion of Nemea, killed by Hercules, who strangled him, because his skin was impenetrable. The hero with his own claws skinned (the one that could hurt him) and stayed skin as its symbol.

* Virgo: The myth is Astraea, daughter titánide Ceo and Phoebe, still having had an affair with fellow Titan Perses, whose union was the result of Hecate (Goddess of Darkness and the Crossroads), virtuously resisted the ravings of Zeus not to become another adventure carnal "thunder." Because of this island was turned into an almost deserted and abandoned, Ortigia.

* Libra: Myth says that is attributed to the goddess of Justice "Dice", as well as illustrating ancient Roman depictions of Julius Caesar carrying a balance, symbolizing his power and justice. Later the Roman ruler would be deleted and the figure would keep the balance.

*Scorpio: Scorpio the goddess Artemis sent the giant hunter Orion. As Orion was a little short of mind, stepped and drove the scorpion sting. Both died and Zeus placed opposite each other, so they do not would fight.

*Sagittarius: The Centaur Chiron, medical doctors, tired of his immortal status, decided to change it for the salvation of Prometheus. When the deal was finalized, Prometheus asked "Why did you do that? Now you're dead, much as you tire, you will not be able to change ..."

*Ophiuchus: God of the stick and the serpent, known in other mythologies, currently number 13 zodiac sign, due to the precision of merit the motion of the axis of Earth.

*Capricorn: Representation of the goat Amalthea, which suckled Zeus when his mother Rhea hid him from sight of his father Cronos.

*Aquarius: The young Ganymede, the cupbearer of the gods on Olympus. An extremely beautiful girl who got the love of the God Zeus.

*Pisces: When the gods fled the Titan Typhon, many adopted animal forms. Ares and Aphrodite did in the form of fish were caught by a fisherman. Other sources say they were the damned Cadmus and Harmonia who were caught.

Astronomical observatories in Chile

Why most important astronomical observatories are located in North chile? The skies of northern Chile are considered the best in the world to do astronomy. More and more Chileans and foreigners who visit the various facilities for observing the heavens during the last decade. However, most astronomical observatories stationed in the "Little North" (Third and Fourth Region) from the 60's are exclusive to science, which leaves little to the tourist. In the mid-'90s, a study by European scientists belonging to the European Southern Observatory (ESO) decided to build a sophisticated new observatory, this time in the Norte Grande (Region II), for highly scientific and identify and unveil large mysteries in space. The place chosen was Cerro Paranal Observatory of the same name which is considered the largest in the world. There are three institutions established in Chile for astronomical research, being the country with the highest concentration instrumental for such purposes. These institutions are: the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA), European Southern Observatory (ESO) and the Carnegie Institution. "The zodiac as a theme for a comic and animated TV serie."

"Saint
Seiya" or Spanish "Knights of the Zodiac" is a comic created in 1986 and then was taken to the TV and animated series.
The plot of the series focuses on the story of a group of young warriors called "saints" (or "gentlemen"), whose main protagonist is Seiya (Saint or knight armor of Pegasus), these warriors fight to protect the Greek goddess Athena and mankind from evil forces who want to dominate the Earth. To his battles, every saint uses its internal energy related to the universe (the "cosmos"), special fighting techniques, and their armor (originally called cloth), all inspired by each of the 88 constellations, which represent as Athena's knights and Saints and protect them in battle.
So it was a few years ago, the tv through an animated series gave us information about the zodiac, as constellations
